Similan Island's

The Similan Marine National Park lies to the North West of Phuket. Consisting of 9 Islands that make up the Similan Island's. The Similan's offer some of the best diving around, not just in Thailand but around the world.

The name Similan was derived from the Malaysian word for the number 9, "Sembilan" as they are made up of 9 islands. The islands also have local names, but are usually referred to by their respective island numbers, starting from the south heading north.

The Similan's cover an area of 140 km², including Koh Bon & Koh Tachai, which are located north of the other 9 islands. The islands only cover 15 km² of land.

The Similan's are famed for their diversity of life, which include large coral growth formations, island topography (both above & below the water) & especially for the marine life that includes the larger marine animals such as Manta Rays & Whale Sharks. There is also an abundance of smaller marine life such as Nudi-branchs, Ghost pipefish or Sea Horses. There is something for everyone to see weather your into small or large marine life.
