Koh Weo

Koh Weo or little Similan is the best dive site in our area, with less than 20m’s visibility.

Koh Weo is two small islands south from the airport on the west coast of Phuket. It takes about 25mins from Nai Yang by longtail boat.

The north dive site is the most popular, you will find a lot of hard corals, a big anemone garden, if you go west you will find the deep side of Koh Weo (about 25m’s) with big rocks & soft corals.

The southern dive site is where you can find a maximum depth of 15m’s. If you go east, you will see a lot of delicate whipcoral & also an artificial reef.

You will find, all kinds of anemone fish, puffer fish, cuttlefish, angelfish, lionfish, nudi-branch & octopus etc.

Tin Mine Wreck

This wreck was once a Tin Mining vessel that sunk during the tsunami in 2004. The wreck has spread out over the years due to the currents & waves. The wreck lies at a maximum depth of 16m’s, which makes this a great site for not only Advanced Open Water students but also Open Water students who are doing open water dives 3 & 4. The site also has some arterial reefs, which are a good place to find schools of fish such as batfish or barracuda.

This site is not for finding any of the really big stuff like manta rays, but it does hold a very good variety of small nudi-branchs, catfish, moray eels & squid swimming around.

When visibility is good, you will be treated to a fabulous overview of the wreck, being able to see the wreck in all its splendour.

The maximum depth at the north end is 16m’s, & at the southern end about 18m’s. Visibility varies from 4m’s to 10–15m’s, with very little or no current.

The northern dive spot is a perfect place to find honeycomb moray, turtle, ghost pipe fish, scorpion fish & different kinds of nudi-branch.

The southern dive spot is good for finding cuttlefish, trigger fish, pipe fish, lionfish & octopus.

Marine Park

A dive site located towards the end of Phuket Airport, which is good for not only divers, but also snorkellers due to the fact that the site goes up onto the beach. The site is really good for beginners because it has lots of sandy areas for teaching with coral around which holds a great deal of marine life. This site is also good for other courses such as AWARE Fish ID or Underwater Navigator.
